Rose Bowl Tickets

The Rose Bowl is called the Grandaddy of Them All because it's the oldest and most prestigious of the BCS bowl games. On January 1, 1902, the University of Michigan spanked Stanford University 49-0 in what was then called the East-West Football Game. Due to the game's lack of competitiveness, Tournament of Roses officials canceled the game until 1916, in favor of Roman style chariot races. In that year, the Tournament of Roses Parade was introduced. The games were played in Pasadena's Tournament Park until 1923 when the first game was played in Rose Bowl Stadium. The 1947 game was the first to pit the champions from the Big Ten and Pac 10 Conferences. However, since 1998, when the Bowl Championship Series system was created, teams selected for the Rose Bowl have been tied to the three other BCS Bowls. The Rose Bowl still attempts to maintain the traditional Pac 10-Big Ten match-up and has done so this year with Big 10 powerhouse Michigan and Pac 10 Champion USC as participants.
