Cavs overwhelmed by Spurs’ intensity

For those of you who hopped on Lebron’s bandwagon and gave Cleveland a chance, you should be ashamed.

As I posted in one of my earlier blogs, the Eastern Conference is so poor in talent that Commissioner David Stern should have proclaimed San Antonio the champion after the Phoenix disgrace. It has been the most disappointing NBA Finals ever! One of the biggest overly matched teams of all time, and no wonder why ESPN called Cleveland the worst team ever to make the NBA Finals.

Cleveland has just too many things that are lacking to be a contender. The most visible is experience. For the few of you who have watched the NBA Finals, you’ve seen a Lebron James who’s just overwhelmed by the moment. The intensity of the Spurs is such as those of the 80’s and 90’s champions: Lakers, Celtics, Pistons and Bulls. I look around at almost every Cleveland possession of the ball and see players standing around, like if the Spurs are going to break down on defense. Top to bottom, I don’t see any weaknesses in this San Antonio squad.

They’ve dominated like the great teams have. And it’s not just the Spurs being great, Cleveland has a lot to do with this. I mean I’ll go as far as to say that every Western Conference team that made it to the playoffs would beat Cleveland in a series. Just look at 8th seeded Golden State who beat the powerful Mavericks. Cleveland went through a weak path to get to the NBA Finals - Wizards (without Arenas and Butler), Nets (with a terrible showing from Carter and Jefferson) and Detroit who never listened nor respected coach Flip Saunders (not that it would’ve made any difference).
To make matters worst, the top two picks in this year’s draft will go to Western Conference teams, Portland and Seattle. Durant and Oden will surely be NBA greats. The West gets stronger every year. According to the Washington Post, the ratings for game 1 of the NBA Finals was the lowest ever in prime time. I think the NBA Commissioner should intervene in this matter. I propose the following. From now until the next 10 years, let’s give the top five picks in the NBA draft to the bottom 5 teams in the Eastern Conference. I figure there’s about a 10-year difference between conferences.

The NBA will then be as competitive as it once was. And for the Cavs, hopefully they don’t have any more 30 point halves against the Spurs. Win one for the city and past NBA greats who’ve worn the Cavs jersey such as Mark Price, Larry Nance and Brad Daugherty. This should be a great experience for them, and I will definitely be looking for better play from Lebron and Cleveland in the upcoming years.

And for those of you who have been looking for other events since the NBA Finals have tanked, here at Ticket of America I can offer you some great Yankees, Red Sox, Braves, US Open Tennis and now football tickets. Yes, football is back! I’m sure you’ve heard about the Wembley Stadium match up between the promising Dolphins and the Giants.
