The NBA Conference Finals are already taking shape, and unfortunately, the Utah Jazz are the first of the NBA’s final four, defeating second-round opponent the Golden State Warriors in just five games. Golden State, who pulled one of the NBA’s greatest playoff upsets, received a rude awakening after its dreams of a deep playoff run crashed abruptly.
I’ve never liked Utah. I guess my grudge against them goes back to Stockton and Malone. Those Utah teams were dirtier than a pot-bellied pig after a mud bath, and it seems their legacy has continued more or less. In the first round against the Rockets, some of their defenders hand-checked and arm-locked my boy Tracy McGrady, and it really irritated me. It’s not fair, but it makes sense. T-Mac can’t be guarded straight-up. Houston went on to lose that series in seven games.
In spite of my bitterness, there is one Jazz player that I’ve come to admire in these playoffs. He’s definitely not the Jazz type in my opinion :-). Guard Derek Fisher knows what’s important in life and has been a strong reminder to us all. At times, I find myself cheering for him, without cheering for Utah if that’s humanly possible. He played a huge role in helping them advance to the Conference Finals, without making it THE PRIORITY.
All I can say is that I wish Mr. Fisher and his family the best on and especially off the court.
To see Fisher and the Jazz in the Western Conference Finals check out Tickets of America. It’s not too early to secure NBA Finals tickets and those for the Eastern Conference Finals. Also, there are still tickets for the remaining second round games in both conferences.
