When you think of the greatest athletes in the world, a four-legged creature probably doesn’t come to mind. Consider the top race horses at the Kentucky Derby. Any healthy colt or filly could outrun any Olympic sprinter on Any Given Saturday. A race horse has yet to win an ESPY award, though Giacomo, surprise winner of the 2005 Kentucky Derby, was close. His victory at Louisville was nominated for “upset of the year.” Is it realistic to think that a horse could win the ESPY’s male athlete of the year award? Sure. Imagine if the late great Barbaro had recuperated to full strength to win his second consecutive Kentucky Derby. Anyhow, what I’m trying to get at is that you should learn to appreciate thoroughbreds if you don’t already. Going to one of the big three races is a big first step. Tickets of America sells Kentucky Derby tickets and Kentucky Derby packages and also Belmont Stakes tickets and Breeder’s Cup tickets on demand. Here’s your opportunity to learn something new.
